Richard Ingersoll and colleagues have a new report out (published in Phi Delta Kappan) on how new teachers are helped to develop. There’s some definite good news. Take a look at this picture.
We’ve gone from half of new teachers being given a hand to most teachers receiving support when at the beginning of their careers. Good news indeed!
I particularly recommend Ingersoll’s article as further reading to those in the trenches, because he’s got some helpful advice on which kinds of support work well and which work less well.
